About the image

I designed a stylized shoot specifically for this competition. The thought was a post apocalyptic cyber girl look with interesting facial jewelry using gels to tell a story about the subject’s moods and emotions. Canon r5 with a canon 28-70 f/2. Depending on the image, lighting was done with Flashpoint ad200 strobes in 1’x2′ gridded strip boxes. Gels were either blue and white or orange and blue were used in the strip boxes using Magmod accessories. For the images with two faces I used a long exposure (about 5 seconds). The strobes would fire and I instructed the model to move and then an assistant would fire a third strobe with gel directly at the models face to highlight the new expression. So those were all done in camera and no manipulation other than basic edits in post. *Double exposure – technically this is a single image, long exposure in camera with two strobe flashes, one with the initial two strobes and the third after the model moves with a gelled strobe highlighting her face.
