About the image

This portrait has been taken in my small 4×4 meter studio space. The background is a white cotton bedsheet clamped to a backdrop stand. The shoot was done for Ruby Pouchet, (@rubypouchet) holding the title Miss Bonaire 2023, – participating in Miss Grand International 2023 and Miss Universe 2024. Her presentation required different outfits. For the swimwear theme, we chose a metallic two-piece set combined with accessories to elevate the look elegantly. This 3 light setups had originally a yellow MagMod gelled flash positioned to camera left behind her, however during postprocessing I decided to eliminate the yellow glow, but instead focus on cooler, icy tones. A rare example where the final image is different than the originally intended. The main light is a 1,5m big octa double diffused soft box, Godox AD 400pro to camera left, bouncing across to a white wall on camera right. In addition a Godox V860III canon flash on low power is directed camera right towards the ceiling behind the camera for a fill. As for the posing the intention was to express natural grace, – hand placements and expression are subtle, graceful and feminine. Hair and make up are natural and complementing the bikini theme.
