To create this look, I set up two AlienBee strobes (1x B400 and 1xB800) — the B400 positioned slightly to my left with a 6-inch reflector and honeycomb grid at 1/8 power, and the B800 off to Caden’s right and his horse using a 48-inch softbox at full power. After a few laps around the field, Caden paused with his horse just long enough for me to capture this shot. I stopped down the aperture to 6.3 to allow for the deeper tones to shine through and to avoid the flash washing out any of Caden and/or the horse.
