About the image

My buddy used to make saddles and knows leatherwork, so I hired him to make a sheath for my bowie knife. In exchange I shot portraits of him. I used a classic setup for art portraits to capture the vintage craft feel of his trade. I like the dark shadows and mystery that feels like old oil paintings. Simple large softbox from the side for main and a large fill behind camera to soften shadow transitions.
