About the image

This senior portrait was shot at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Going into this session, I knew I wanted to create a very bold, editorial shot with the conservatory behind the senior and color grade with cooler tones. I used a Westcott FJ400 at half power with a 36″ beauty dish angled at 45°. The beauty dish was feathered to produce a very soft and natural look, while the camera settings were adjusted to capture the actual sky.
